The UK's response this week to the Corona Virus has meant many companies closing their doors, self issolation and home working.
This has had a massive impact on the infrastructure providing our internet connectivity. Usually there is a 30 to 45% growth annually in network growth, the last 4 weeks has seen a 20 to 40% peak increase (usually in the evening) and have impacted regionally.
So far the infrastructure has held up to this demand but the network was designed around annual growth not in days.. but our content delivery networks and backbone systems are coping.
300% growth in teleconferencing
400% growth in online gaming
Sunday 9pm for tv streaming was the weekly peak - this has changed.
So a huge impact on our digital landscape.
